Europe and the US pressured Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to authorize more settlement building in response to the latest wave of terror attacks, settlers leaders said late Tuesday night.

 

“Strategically, [heeding such pressure] is an egregious mistake that will harm the settlement enterprise, Jerusalem and the nation as a whole,” said Avi Ro’eh, who heads the Council of Jewish Communities of Judea and Samaria.

 

He spoke after a three hour meeting between Netanyahu, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon, seniors staff from the premier’s office and 18 settler leaders. It was the first such meeting in over two years.
